Salad Chef® Salad Dressing Mixer

I've always been an advocate of making salad dressings instead of using ready-made bottle versions - with the exception of Newman's Own salad dressing products which I use a lot as the base for marinating - and, okay, I must be honest, I do occasionally use Newman's Own as a dressing for a salad.

Bonjour Salad Chef with saladBonJour Salad ChefThe Salad Chef® Salad Dressing Mixer is a great way to begin making your own salad dressings - it has recipes printed right on the container as well as several other recipes in the accompanying booklet.  I decided to try a recipe of my own using the marking levels of oil, vinegar and lemon juice on the container.  I added chopped basil and parsley and some dried thyme and garlic salt plus a few grindings of black pepper.

It requires four "AA" batteries to operate the mixing wand and if you have re-chargeable batteries, that's a plus.  To operate, you simply insert the wand and press down to activate the batteries and the small propeller-style tip does the mixing of your salad dressing.  I did find that when adding chopped fresh herbs, you will need to chop finely as any larger pieces of fresh herbs can get entangled in the tip and slow down the mixing process. It comes with a ball-shaped lid to close off the container so you can refrigerate and store any left-over salad dressing - this is great for couples and singles - one batch of home-made salad dressing in the Salad Chef® Salad Dressing Mixer will last for several days worth of eating salads.
